Miller's letter fails to mention points on Republicans

If there was a whopper of the month club for letters to the editor, Mark Miller's recent propaganda piece against Rep. Earl Pomeroy would certainly head the list.

If there was a whopper of the month club for letters to the editor, Mark Miller's recent propaganda piece against Rep. Earl Pomeroy would certainly head the list.

To refresh everyone's memory, Miller blamed Pomeroy for the inaction of the federal government on border security issues since Sept. 11, 2001.

Of course, Miller didn't mention that Republicans have been in total control of the federal government over that time period until the country finally said "enough is enough" and booted them out of the Senate and House last fall.

He also didn't mention that President Bush and the Republican Congress received failing grades from the 9/11 Commission on implementing their recommendations on how to improve homeland security. Nor did he mention that Bush and the Republican Congress have consistently undermined?homeland security needs. In fact, the Bush budget for 2008 significantly cut funding for key homeland security programs.

Miller also neglected to mention that Democrats passed many of the remaining 9/11 recommendations within days of taking over the U.S. House.

I expect this is just a preview of Republican attacks to come. Their record in Congress was less than stellar and has left this country with more problems and scandals that we can count. Their only course of action is to criticize Democrats for not being able to immediately fix the mess that they have left behind.
