ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Wild re-signed popular enforcer Derek Boogaard on Wednesday to a multiyear deal.
The 6-foot-7 Boogaard had one assist and 120 penalty minutes for the Wild last season, worrying very little about scoring while patrolling the ice to look after his smaller teammates.
The 25-year-old Canadian played in 48 games last season and led the Wild with 20 penalty minutes in their first-round playoff defeat to Anaheim.
