MINNEWAUKAN, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota's congressional delegation says the federal Education Department is providing a $6 million grant to move the Minnewaukan school away from Devils Lake floodwaters.
Sens. Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan and Rep. Earl Pomeroy say the school that serves about 225 students in grades K-12 used to be eight miles from the expanding water, but now is only 130 feet away. The school's football field already is submerged.
The delegation did not immediately have further details on what moving the school would entail.
Officials have been contemplating moving the entire town of Minnewaukan. More than a dozen homes have already been bought out by the federal government.
