The Jamestown Fire Department extinguished a small fire at a trailer on Wednesday at 230 Northland Estates, said Jim Reuther, chief of the department.

The call was reported at about 5:20 p.m.

“I was probably one of the first ones to arrive there, we had a little bit of smoke inside the trailer itself,” Reuther said.

He said they were trying to thaw frozen pipes at the trailer.

“The fire was actually underneath the trailer ... they had embers, burning embers just above the kitchen area so our firefighters had to pull some siding down and then we sprayed some water up inside there,” he said.

Four units and multiple firefighters were at the scene for about 20 to 30 minutes.

Reuther said there was minimal damage.

“Prepare for winter because winter’s here,” he said. “Make sure that you have everything taken care of, your furnaces, your annual checks on all your heating appliances.”
