A Jamestown man escaped serious injury Saturday in a motorcycle/automobile accident, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
Wayne Weis, 39, 1105 Ninth St. S.W., was westbound on Seventeenth Street Southwest driving a 1996 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Raymond Burkle, 83, 1018 Sixth Ave. S.W., was driving north on Eighth Avenue Southwest. Burkle stopped at the stop sign but proceeded into the intersection without yielding right of way to Weis, the department said.
The police said skid marks showed Weis attempted to stop, but skidded into Burkle's 1991 Oldsmobile.
Police estimated damages to the motorcycle at $4,800 and to the car at $100.
Weis had minor injuries to a leg and arm. He wasn't wearing a helmet.
