BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- A Bismarck man has been sentenced to serve 10 years in prison for the murder of his 3 1/2-month-old son.
South Central District Judge David Reich on Friday sentenced 20-year-old Aarin Cratty to 25 years in prison with all but the 10 years suspended and five years of supervised probation.
The Bismarck Tribune says Cratty must serve 85 percent of the sentence before being eligible for parole.
Cratty told police he played too rough with his son when the boy wouldn't stop crying, and the child's head struck Cratty's knee. But Burleigh County State's Attorney Richard Riha (REE'-uh) said the death was a result of the baby being shaken.
Cratty pleaded guilty to murder in late June.
