BISMARCK (AP) -- A Bismarck man has died after a trench he was working in collapsed around him.
Burleigh County Sheriff's Major Les Witkowski said 41-year-old Troy Jeffrey Thurlby died Tuesday evening when the 9-foot-deep trench he was working in with another man began to collapse.
The Bismarck Tribune reported that the other man was able to get out.
Tom Deutscher with Occupational Safety and Health Administration says Thurlby was working for Advantage Plumbing and Heating Inc. Deutscher said a compliance officer will investigate whether Thurlby's death was due to safety standards being violated at the company.
