BISMARCK (AP) -- State health officials say nine human West Nile virus cases have been confirmed in North Dakota, out of 26 nationwide.
The number compares with just two confirmed cases last week.
Health officials said four of the victims have been hospitalized. Their names and conditions were not released.
Five of the cases are from Cass County, with single reports from Burleigh, Dickey, Griggs and Ransom counties, the Health Department said.
