BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- A Bismarck lawyer who's been nominated to be North Dakota's next U.S. attorney is in line for consideration by the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Tim Purdon is one of four U.S. attorney nominees on the committee's discussion list Thursday morning in Washington, D.C. The others are from Tennessee, Illinois and Ohio.
The U.S. attorney is North Dakota's top federal prosecutor. President Obama nominated Purdon for the job last February. Purdon is a former North Dakota Democratic national committeeman.
Purdon needs to be confirmed by the Senate to take the U.S. attorney's job. Lynn Jordheim has been North Dakota's acting U.S. attorney since last September, when Republican Drew Wrigley resigned.
