BISMARCK (AP) -- A prosecutor says he's reviewing possible criminal charges against a North Dakota State University official who is being fired for allegedly padding his expense reports.
An audit said Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute director Gene Griffin tried to collect more than $6,000 in meal reimbursements from both NDSU and the school's private foundation.
Documents say Griffin told the auditor he didn't do anything wrong. Both Griffin and his lawyer aren't responding to messages.
Cass County State's Attorney Birch Burdick said Wednesday his office is reviewing the allegations against Griffin. Burdick said no decision's been made on whether to prosecute.
A former director of North Dakota's workers compensation agency was convicted of a felony in December 2008 for misspending public funds on meals and gifts for agency workers.
