SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (AP) -- Authorities say a South Sioux City man accused of killing his girlfriend is being held in an isolation cell in North Dakota where he was taken into custody for second-degree murder.
John Baker was arrested on Monday in McLean County. He's suspected in the death of Kelly Alspach, who was found dead last Friday at her home.
The Sioux City Journal says Wednesday that McLean County Sheriff Don Charging says Baker was being held in isolation until he returns to Nebraska because of an alleged medical condition and so officers could monitor him for suicidal behavior.
Charging says Baker was asleep when North Dakota deputies surprised him at a relative's house in Garrison.
Court documents say investigators found Alspach's body stuffed under a window seat.
