No one was injured when a boat caught fire early this morning at Spiritwood Lake, said Wayne Fylling, chief of the Jamestown Rural Fire Department.

The call came in shortly after 5 a.m., three units and four firefighters were on the scene for less than an hour, Fylling said.

The fishing boat was ashore at the Spiritwood Lake Campground. The fire destroyed the boat which Fylling valued at about $10,000.

He believes the problem to be electrical because the fire started towards the back of the boat by the batteries.

"That's the first time I've ever seen one of them go like that," he said.
