FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota farmers need better weather for spraying and haying, and for the development of their crops.

The Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop and weather report that continued wet weather does have a bright side -- topsoil moisture in the state is ahead of the five-year average at 98 percent adequate to surplus.

Small grains crops in North Dakota generally are behind the average in development. All other crops are near the average.

Pasture and range conditions in the state are rated 84 percent good to excellent. Hay condition is rated 90 percent in those two categories.
