TIOGA, N.D. — Two motorists were hospitalized after a pickup truck and semi collided in Williams County on Sunday, March 26, in western North Dakota.
The crash happened at about 5:30 a.m. on state Highway 1804 with foggy conditions, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
A semi hauling fracking sand was eastbound on Highway 1804 when it pulled into an approach on the north side of the road, trying to turn around. The semi then backed across the road to another approach on the south side, the patrol said.
As the semi was turning around onto the highway to go west, an eastbound 2017 GMC Sierra pickup hit the side of the semitrailer, the patrol said.
The pickup driver, a 43-year-old man from Logan, Iowa, was taken to Trinity hospital in Minot to be treated for serious injuries, the patrol said. Medics took the pickup passenger, a 21-year-old man from Athens, Georgia, to Tioga Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

The pickup driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts, the patrol said.
The semi driver, a 35-year-old woman from Carrollton, Georgia, was not injured in the crash. She was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
The motorists' names were not released. The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
