DICKINSON, N.D. — A 22-year old Dickinson man was killed after he allegedly ran a stop sign and was hit by another vehicle driven by a 23-year-old Dickinson man.
Dylan Berger was driving a 2001 Chevrolet 2500 Silverado southbound on State Avenue North when he came upon the intersection of 34th Street Southwest at an unknown speed, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
At the same time, Jesse Ortiz Jr. was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro west on 34th Street Southwest. Troopers said Berger failed to stop at the stop sign and Ortiz did not have time to react.
Ortiz's car struck Berger's pickup in the driver's side door, and both vehicles went off the road.
Berger’s vehicle rolled, ejecting Berger, who was not wearing a seat belt. Ortiz was wearing a seat belt.
Both drivers were transported to St. Alexius ER in Dickinson. Berger was flown to Bismarck via helicopter, where he later died due to the injuries he sustained in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
