DICKINSON, N.D. — North Dakota authorities issued a Silver Alert early on Wednesday morning, Dec. 21, for an 80-year-old Dickinson man who had been missing since Tuesday.

Law enforcement officers later found Larry Custer, North Dakota officials announced at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. He was found safe, and the Silver Alert was canceled.

Custer's spouse had been the last person to see him at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday (Mountain time) at his home in Dickinson.

His medical conditions put him at risk for being on his own, authorities said. He was believed to be driving a 2008 Ford Taurus.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
