Authorities are investigating the death of a Stutsman County Corrections Center inmate who was arrested early Tuesday.

Capt. Gary Peterson of the Jamestown Police Department said the 31-year-old man was arrested around 2:58 a.m. Tuesday for charges pending in another county.

Corrections center staff found him unresponsive about two hours later at 5:15 a.m. A corrections officer performed CPR, Peterson said, and the man was transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Peterson said he's unsure where the man is from and is not releasing his name, pending family notification.

Peterson said the state medical examiner's office will perform an autopsy.
