Parks and Rec offers lap swimming at high school

The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department will offer lap swimming at the Jamestown High School swimming pool starting Wednesday and continuing through the opening of the Two Rivers Activities Center.
The standard hours are 6:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Monday and Wednesday. These times are for lap swimming only. The department said the dates and times will be standard, but there may be circumstances that may make various dates/times unavailable. A monthly calendar will be created and shared with participants to outline any changes well in advance.
All swimmers will enter and exit through the main doors at the Jamestown High School. A check-in form will be provided at the pool. For security purposes, all swimmers will be required to sign in when they arrive and depart from the swimming pool facility.
Participants in the Lap Swimming Program will utilize the varsity locker rooms for the morning and evening sessions. Lockers will be available, but swimmers will need to bring their own locks. Locks and all materials should be removed after each swimming session.
The Jamestown Parks and Recreation will provide pool monitoring and lifeguards for the lap swimmers. All supervisors are certified lifeguards.
There will be no charge for James River Family Fitness members, however, they will need to show their membership card when participating. For nonmembers, a monthly pass can be purchased for $30 at the Jamestown Parks and Recreation office, 1002 2nd Ave. SE.
