WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) -- A portion of the scenic drive in the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park will be closed for emergency repairs for two weeks beginning Monday.
The National Park Service says erosion in the Cedar Canyon area has led to a slumping of the road surface. Superintendent Valerie Naylor says repairs are needed to save the road.
The road closure will begin at the Caprock Coulee parking area, 7 miles west of the North Unit Visitor Center. After the two-week closure, travel through the construction area will be one lane only.
Access to the Juniper Campground and several trails will not be affected by the road closure.
