Patriots' Day will be commemorated Saturday in Jamestown with a program and a freedom walk/parade through downtown Jamestown. The event is sponsored by the Patriotic Council of Jamestown.
Freedom Walk is a free, nonpartisan event open to the general public. This is not a platform to discuss politics or policies.
"The purpose of this event is simply to continue the traditional Jamestown Freedom Walk started in 2008 to reflect on the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, renew our commitment to freedom and the values of our country and to honor our military members and their families and our first responders," said Charlie Kourajian, Patriotic Council chairman.
The event will start with a half-mile walk through downtown Jamestown at 4:30 p.m., starting at the All Vets Club, 116 First St. E. After the walk, a free light supper will be served (about 5 p.m.) followed by a short program of remembrance of the Sept. 11 attact and a show of support for members of America's military.
