The North Dakota Highway Patrol identified the two North Dakota men killed early Sunday after a car rolled on a gravel road about 4 miles north of the South Dakota border in Richland County, N.D.
The patrol said Dustin Krause, 33, Wahpeton, and Ryan Ginsbach, 37, Lidgerwood, died after the crash that occurred at 12:44 a.m. on Richland County Road 81. The patrol said a 2008 Chevrolet Impala drove off the east shoulder of the gravel road, rolled and came to rest on its top in a fast-moving drainage ditch. Both occupants were swept away by water after the crash. One occupant was ejected and located about half a mile north of the car. Several hours after the crash, the second man was found a mile north of the crash scene.
The driver and passenger were not wearing a seat belt. The patrol said it is unknown at this time who was driving the car when it crashed. Both were transported to the state medical examiners office for autopsy.
Also responding to the crash were the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and Fairmount Fire Department.
The patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
