BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- A former pharmacist at the Indian Health Service hospital on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation in North Dakota has been sentenced to two years of probation and restitution for stealing prescription pills.
Fifty-six-year-old Douglas Aos of Belcourt pleaded guilty in June to acquiring a controlled substance by misrepresentation.
U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says that from May 2008 until June 2010, Aos worked as the supervisory pharmacist and director of outpatient pharmacy at the Quentin N. Burdick Memorial Health Facility in Belcourt. Purdon says Aos took medicine that patients had ordered filled but not picked up, instead of returning the pills to the shelves.
