Local children will join the Missoula Children's Theatre in performing "The Jungle Book," a musical adaptation of the classic tale by Rudyard Kipling.
"The Jungle Book" is the story of Mowgli, the man-cub who is abandoned in the jungle, adopted by wolves, taught by a bear, befriended by a panther and chased by a tiger.
The audience joins him as he escapes from the Monkey-People, outwits a tiger, enlists the help of a rock-python, explores what it means to be human and learns a lesson from the brave mongoose Rikki-Tikki-Tavi.
This will mark the Children's Theatre's third year in Jamestown. Each time the team has arrived with everything it takes to put on a play, except the cast.
The weeklong residency begins with an open group audition and parts for up to 60 students in grades K-12. Rehearsals run through the week ending with two public performances of the full-length musical.
