The VCSU Music Department has announced that the Copper Street Brass Quintet will perform in Valley City. A professional brass quintet based in Minneapolis, the CSBQ will perform a featured concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, in VCSU's Froemke Auditorium. Admission is $5 for adults and free to VCSU faculty, staff and students with ID.

The CSBQ is coming to Valley City as ensemble-in-residence for the 8th Annual James D. Ployhar Honor Band Festival, and will work with selected high school musicians at the festival in sectionals, masterclasses, and performances.

The CSBQ has as its mission "to engage communities, educate students, and enhance the lives of the many." Since its formation in 2007, the group has performed extensively at major venues throughout the Minneapolis area -- including at Orchestra Hall, the Walker Art Center and the Minnesota State Fair -- and at universities, schools, and churches in North and South Dakota, Montana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The group has also been featured on Midwest television stations and Minnesota Public Radio.

The CSBQ will make Valley City its first stop on a nine-city North Dakota and Montana tour.
