A semi pulling a trailer filled with combustible liquid rolled in Barnes County Wednesday morning en route to Jamestown, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The patrol said John B. Taggart, 66, Zimmerman, Minn., was driving a 2002 Peterbuilt semi at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from Mayville, N.D., to Jamestown on N.D. Highway 32. The semi went off the roadway near mile marker 94 into the west ditch and Taggart steered to correct. The semi started sliding sideways and rolled, coming to rest on its hood.
The crash happened near Page, N.D., according to the Barnes County Sheriff's Office.
Taggart suffered minor injuries in the wreck and was transported by ambulance to MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. The patrol said he had been wearing a seat belt and charges are pending against him.
The semi and trailer were towed to Valley City. The scene of the crash took several hours to clear because of special precautions taken because of the hazardous materials.
