The National Weather Service in Bismarck has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for eastern Emmons, southwest Logan and western McIntosh counties in North Dakota. Towns that could be affected include Wishek, Burnstad and Hague. The warning will expire at 7:15 p.m.

The NWS said doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm was 7 miles northeast of Linton and moving southeast at 30 mph. The storm is capable of winds in excess of 60 mph and large hail.

The NWS said this is a supercell thunderstorm. These storms have a rotating nature and are capable of producing all sorts of severe weather, including large hail, destructive winds and tornadoes.

This storm is also producing very heavy rain. People in this storm's path should seek shelter indoors immediately.
