A skills training class is scheduled in December and January at the James Valley Career & Technology Center, 910 12th Ave. NE, Jamestown.
The course is from 6 to 9 p.m. each day. Sessions are on Dec. 28-30 and Jan. 4-5 and Jan. 7.
The cost is $120, which is non-refundable and includes a study guide. The deadline for registering for class is the Wednesday before class starts and is first come, first served.
The class is designed to teach the manual skills that will assist participants in challenging the Certified Nurse Aide exam. This is not a CNA program approved by the board of nursing. Some studying on attendee’s own time is necessary; materials will be available. Those who miss a session may continue, but there will not be any makeup sessions.
The text “Nursing assistants – a basic study guide” will be distributed the first night of class.
Testing is the second Tuesday of every month; the nearest date of testing for this class will be Jan. 12. Those planning to take the CNA test are encouraged to fill out an admission application and send $120 to the North Dakota State Board of Nursing. This is in addition to the $120 cost of the skills training class. The board does not accept personal checks; mail in a money order in the amount of $120 with the registration.
