SKYWARN class set for May 9 in Jamestown

SKYWARN volunteers are trained to be severe weather spotters.

A class on the National Weather Service's SKYWARN volunteer program will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at the Stutsman County Law Enforcement Center, 205 6th St. SE, in Jamestown.

The National Weather Service established SKYWARN with partner organizations to obtain critical weather information, according to the NWS website. SKYWARN volunteers are trained to be severe weather spotters, and they help keep their local communties safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the NWS.
