BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- The first North Dakota police officer to die in the line of duty in 15 years is being laid to rest.
The funeral for Bismarck Police Sgt. Steven Kenner is Thursday morning in the Bismarck Civic Center. Law officers will then lead a procession to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery south of Mandan, where Kenner will be buried.
The 56-year-old Kenner was shot and killed late Friday while responding to a domestic disturbance call. Authorities have charged 52-year-old Steven G. Bannister with murder.
Kenner was the first Bismarck police officer killed on the job.
