Valley City State University Music Department will host the 9th Annual Solo Song Symposium on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Directed by Robin Allebach, and assisted by Christopher Redfearn, the day of solo singing for selected North Dakota high school singers features the opportunity to perform in a recital setting with masterclasses in vocal technique, diction, stage etiquette and performance practices. New this year will be the symposium’s fully online format, which will culminate with an online spotlight recital.
The selected high school soloists are Alexis Busch, Wyndmere; Kaitlin Bitzegaio and Kate Gilliland, both West Fargo; Titus Hooey, Lakota; Jacob Mayo and Kyla Nelson, both Fargo; Eyan Mehlhoff, Lisbon, and Taylen Mendoza, Valley City.
The day will also highlight former Solo Song Symposium singers who are now music majors at VCSU: William Egan, Enderlin, baritone; Elizabeth Gazeley, mezzo soprano, Marlen “Mikey” Meester, tenor, and Joseph Munowenyu, bass baritone, all Valley City; and
Makayla Woitzel, Fargo, soprano.
