Two men were transported to the Valley City Jail on Thursday after allegedly attempting to elude the authorities on a stolen motorcycle.

The Highway Patrol said Cody Church, 20, Fargo was driving a 2001 BMW X-5 that was reported stolen from the Valley City area Thursday when it was spotted by a trooper on Interstate 94 near the Eckleson exit around 11:49 a.m. Jacob Scarberry, 20, Martinsville, Ohio was a passenger in the car.

The Highway Patrol said the car left the highway at exit 276 traveling south. Two marked North Dakota highway Patrol vehicles with red lights and sirens attempted to stop the driver, but he failed to yield and continued southbound. He drove off the road into a corn field and became stuck in a slough.

The Highway Patrol said the Church and Scarberry left the car and attempted to flee on foot. They were taken into custody by the Highway Patrol without incident and were transported to the Valley City Jail. Multiple criminal charges are pending in various jurisdictions.

There were no injuries or damage to the car.
