The Jamestown Tourism Board on Monday directed staff to make improvements to the jamestowncalendar.com website.
There will be two areas being improved, said Searle Swedlund, executive director of Jamestown Tourism. The code needs to be updated to optimize the calendar for Google, and an adjustment made to improve photo uploads, he said.
The board directed Swedlund to research the costs to provide the site as an app for mobile devices, he said. The board expressed interest in considering a “jingle” to replace the current radio marketing advertisement for the calendar, he said.
The board directed Swedlund to look at how to shift the $10,000 in mailing costs for the annual Jamestown Area Source Guide from a print to a digital platform, he said.
In his report, Swedlund he is interviewing five candidates for the office manager position. He said he will attend the next Stutsman County Park Board meeting to discuss a Lakeside Marina campground expansion project proposal.

In other business, Swedlund said the board directed him to communicate with the State Historical Society of North Dakota regarding recent downsizing. The concern was that the agency’s role in ensuring the attention and preservation of local historic sites continue, he said.
