Interstate closed east of Jamestown
The Jamestown area is waking up to 7 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours, according to measurements taken at the North Dakota State Hospital.
The snow and blowing snow prompted the North Dakota Department of Transportation to close Interstate 94 westbound from Fargo to Valley City and eastbound from Jamestown to Fargo Thursday morning. A no travel advisory is in place for all of eastern North Dakota including the Jamestown area.
The snow accumulation came as 5 inches from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and another 2 inches from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday.
The snow came with winds gusting as high as 35 mph and temperatures of 8 below zero resulting in wind chills as cold as 35 below zero.
