The North Dakota Department of Transportation closed Interstate 94 eastbound from Bismarck to Valley City and westbound from Fargo to Bismarck as of 10 a.m. Friday.
A no travel advisory had been issued for southcentral North Dakota by the North Dakota Department of Transportation at about 7 a.m.
The Stutsman County Sherrif's Office and the Jamestown Police Department have also issued no travel advisories for their jurisdictions.
The advisory issued by the NDDOT includes the Jamestown, Edgeley, Medina and Valley City area.
As of 7:50 a.m., the no travel advisory was expanded to include central North Dakota including the Carrington, Devils Lake and Bismarck areas
The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy snow continuing through the day. A winter storm warning for all of central North Dakota remains in place until 1 p.m. Saturday.
