BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- The trial date for a Bismarck man who's accused of beating his wife to death in front of her 3-year-old son has been delayed.

Derek Bollinger is charged with murder and child abuse. He's accused of killing his wife, Jessica Bollinger, at the couple's south Bismarck home last March. He's in jail on $500,000 bond.

During Bollinger's court appearance Monday, prosecutor Cynthia Feland said she expects a trial to take five days. South Central District Judge Donald Jorgensen says it will be scheduled later.

Feland hopes the trial will be set in November or December. She's asking Jorgensen to agree to send questionnaires to prospective jurors. Feland says that would speed up the process of picking jurors to hear Bollinger's trial.
