Two injured in two-vehicle accident

A two-vehicle accident on Oct. 25 caused an estimated $10,000 in damage and sent two people to the hospital, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

A two-vehicle accident on Oct. 25 caused an estimated $10,000 in damage and sent two people to the hospital, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

The accident happened around 5:15 around the 500 block of 10th St. S.E.

Bonny Lippert, 39, 453 First St. West, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet westbound on the inside lane of 10th Street Southeast.

Stephen Martinez, 24, 1209 10th Ave. S.E., was driving a 2002 Hyundai passenger car eastbound on the outside lane of 10th Street Southeast.

Martinez stated there was a vehicle in front of him and swerved in an attempt to miss the car, he lost control and entered the other lane, where he was struck by Lippert.

Lippert and witness Lisa Davis, 41, 8603 40th St. S.E., both stated that they did not see the car Martinez swerved to avoid.

There was an estimated $5,000 in damage to the Chevrolet and an estimated $5,000 in damage to the Hyundai.

Both drivers were not wearing seat belts and were evaluated for injuries at the Jamestown Hospital Emergency Room.

Martinez was issued a citation for following another vehicle too closely and failed to use seat belt.
