The Norwegian Troll Dancers were organized approximately 40 years ago by Julia Schlaht. The 18 dancers range in age from 35 to over 90. The dancers were the first Sons of Norway dance group to be awarded cultural skills pins from the International Sons of Norway in recognition of mastering song dances, figure dances and couple dances in three different skill levels. The group has a repertoire of 20 dances. Dancers wear bunads -- a traditional Norwegian costume, some of which have been passed down through the generations and others which are patterned after areas in Norway where ancestors came from. Every year the dancers perform at the Jamestown Syttende Mai celebration and for local nursing homes. The dancers have also performed at various conventions like the district Sons of Norway and other local events such as the Jamestown Cultural Arts Festival and the North Dakota Winter Show. Additional information can be obtained by contacting either Linda Mohn at 252-8495 or Mary Englund at 252-2930

Music in the City Park Bandshell is co-sponsored by KOVC/Dakota Country and the Valley City Parks & Recreation District. A freewill offering is taken. The park is sprayed for mosquitoes. Bring your lawn chair or blanket. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the City Auditorium.
