The Jamestown Fire Department extinguished a vehicle fire on Thursday afternoon at Gerdau Metals Recycling, said Lt. Sheldon Mohr of the Fire Department.

Mohr said the call was reported at 3:12 p.m. at the business, which is located at 1510 10th St. SE.

“The vehicle was pretty much totally involved when we got there,” he said.

Mohr said an SUV that had been scrapped apparently started on fire when parts of the vehicle were being cut off.

Three units and 18 firefighters were at the scene for 20 minutes. No injuries were reported.
