Water main to be repaired Sunday
An evening water main break will be repaired early Sunday, said Joe Rowell, superintendent of the city of Jamestown water department.
The water outage was reported early evening in the 400 block of 8th Street Northeast, he said. The outage is not widespread but does include an apartment building, he said.
“It’s a pretty good main break,” Rowell said. “It’s a bad situation with bad timing and the conditions but we were able to get the water just about shut off and we will get back to it in the morning.”
If workers started digging Saturday evening it would be midnight before they were in position to make repairs, he said. It was decided to have a digging crew come in early Sunday and hopefully everything will be done by noon — but nothing is for certain, he said.
Some other North Dakota communities have been experiencing daily and weekly water main breaks this winter, he said. This is the first in Jamestown since late November, he said.
“We’ve been lucky this year,” Rowell said.
