"The Ark," a musical comedy presented by the Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts, is at 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Performance continue at 8 p.m. July 19-20, 24-25, July 31-Aug. 4, and Aug. 7-11, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 22, Aug. 5 and 12, at The Opera House in New Rockford. The Home Grown Talent Contest, featuring the Spiritwood Creek Band, contemporary singer Kelsey Lee and the contemporary music of Angie Kokott and the Circle of Song, is at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Frontier Village Amphitheater. There is no admission charge. The karaoke contest is at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the amphitheater. There is no performance scheduled.
"Little Shop of Horrors," presented by the LaMoure County Summer Musical Theatre, is at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, July 26-28, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at the LaMoure County Memorial Park Auditorium in Grand Rapids. Tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for preschoolers and are available by calling the box office at (701) 883-5230 from noon to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday and noon to 8 p.m. on show days.

The Stutsman County Fair is today through Sunday at the fairgrounds in Jamestown. The fair includes nightly entertainment, a carnival, Kids Day, 4-H and open class exhibits, stock car and go cart racing and a rodeo. Gate fees are $4 for those age 13 and older and $3 for those ages 7 to 12. Children 6 and under get in free.
Fort Ransom Sodbuster Days are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Fort Ransom State Park, 35 miles south of Valley City. The event showcases the state's homesteading and ethnic heritage. Cost: $5 per person, per day, with children under age 12 admitted free.
The AAUW Garden Tour is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Garden hosts are Jon and Connie Lillejord, 1604 Evergreen Dr. N.W., Richard and Laurie Podoll, 613 15th St. S.E., Rusty and Marsha Schauer, 246 18th Ave. N.E., Pat and Barb Stockert, 506 Second Ave. S.W., and Wayne and Donna Tees, 8175 31st St. S.E. (on the road to Pipestem Dam). Refreshments will be served during tour hours at the Arts Center. Dazey Days starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 21, in Dazey. Activities include a parade, tractor pull, games, a social, old-time music, concessions and a street dance.
Around Town
Open Mic Night, hosted by local musician John Crowston, is from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at Babb's Coffee House. The open session is available to anyone wanting to perform.
The summer parks program, sponsored by Jamestown Parks and Recreation, is from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until July 27 at Meidinger, Nickeus and Klaus parks. Activities such as arts, crafts, hiking, biking and canoeing are supervised. There is no cost to participate, but parents are responsible for transportation.
"Puttin' on the Lutz," featuring a Ladies High Tea with Maralyn Salting portraying Mathilda Lutz, is at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Stutsman County Memorial Museum in the Lutz mansion. The high tea will be served in the dining room. Formal attire is not required.

Memoir Writing with Larry Woiwode, North Dakota's poet laureate, is from 1 to 4 p.m. July 24 at the Jamestown Arts Center. Cost: $35 which includes a copy of Woiwode's memoir.
