The Fort Ransom Bluegrass Festival is from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 26, in Fort Ransom. The festival features Monroe Crossing, the Johnson Family Band, Cotton Wood, Stoney Run and the Fort Ransom Gang. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Special Events

The 16th Annual Kite Fest is from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Meidinger Park, 17th Street and 17th Avenue Southwest, in Jamestown. Concessions available. There is no admission charge.

The Foster County Fair is June 15-17 in Carrington. Events June 15 include: Darryl's Racing Pigs, Dakota Mysteries and Oddities Museum and Rocky Top ranch Petting Zoo, all opening at 4 p.m.; 4-H and FFA static exhibits on display; annual pork feed, 5 p.m.; water games during the evening; 7:30 p.m., Community Hymn Sing. Events June 16 (4-H Day) include: 4-H beef show, 12:30 p.m.; racing pigs, petting zoo, opening at noon; midway opens at 1 p.m.; Foster County Fair Farmers Olympics competition, 6 p.m.; "Da Lutherlic Ladies" perform at 7:30 p.m. Events June 17 include: safety presentations for children, 11:45 a.m.; 4-H Parade of Champions, 5:30 p.m.; entertainment, 7 p.m.

The 25th annual North Dakota Farm Toy Show is June 19-20 in LaMoure, N.D., sponsored by Toy Farmer LTD. Show opens to public from 9 a.m. to 4 p .m. Saturday, June 19; children's pedal pull, 1 p.m. on east side of school; adult pull follows. Jamestown Air Fest 2010, featuring the American Barnstormers flying, giving rides and on display, is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 30-July 2 at the Jamestown Regional Airport. A dance with the Borderline Band is from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, July 2. Jimmy Velvet, 1950s/1960s recording artist and friend of Elvis Presley will sign books, CDs and photos all three days. There is no admission charge.

Around Town

The Front Porch Chat features Daphne Drewello on the history of Alfred Dickey Public Library at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Stutsman County Memorial Museum. Front Porch Chats, featuring local history presentations, are held every Sunday at the museum through August.

Open Mic Night, hosted by local musician John Crowston, is from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays June through August at the Arts Center. The open session is available to anyone wanting to perform. It will return to Babb's Coffee House in September.

Museums/ Libraries/etc.

National Buffalo Museum hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Labor Day. Admission: $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and AAA members, $10 for a family and $1 for children ages 6 to 18.

Frontier Village is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The "Wild West Shootout" is at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 12 and 26.

Fort Seward opens for the summer season Saturday. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Admission is a freewill donation and signing the guest book.

Stutsman County Memorial Museum opens for the summer season Saturday. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is as freewill donation.

Alfred Dickey Public Library hours are 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. To access the Story Line, call 252-7464.

Storytime is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Alfred Dickey Public Library. The theme is "Down by the Sea."

Stutsman County Library hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The library is located at 910 Fifth St. S.E.

The Arts Center, located at 115 Second St. S.W., Jamestown, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and by appointment Sunday. There is no admission charge.

The Putnam House in Carrington is open for special events and by appointment by calling 701-652-2090. There is no admission charge.

The Barnes County Historical Museum, 315 Central Ave. N., Valley City, is open year round from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Admission is a freewill donation. "Bridges of North Dakota" is the exhibit in the museum through June 19.

The Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile Historic Site near Cooperstown is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Sept. 15. Admission is $10 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-15. Children under age 5 are admitted free.

Art

"Flower Thermometer Magnet," a James River Valley Library System craft class for children, is at 2 p.m. today at Alfred Dickey Public Library.

Watercolor Still Life and Landscape, taught by Jessica Watkins, is from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, June 15 and 17, at the Arts Center. Cost: $30 for Arts Center members and $40 for others. For more information, call the Arts Center at 251-2496.

The Jamestown Fine Arts Association Annual Art Show, featuring the work of area artists, is on display at the Arts Center through June 19.

Ed Schlosser is the featured art exhibit at Unison Bank for June. Each month Unison features a different artist in its lobby.
