WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) -- New housing permits being issued in Williams County are on a record pace.

Building Inspector Richard Ryan says permits in the northwestern North Dakota oil patch county are about 40 percent ahead of last year, and have already surpassed $8 million in value.

Issued permits also are on a record pace in Williston. Housing is in demand in western North Dakota because of the booming oil patch.
