WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) -- Williston's Building Department is on pace to issue a record number of permits this year for new housing.
Through June 1, officials had issued 173 permits worth $24.6 million, compared with 78 permits worth $9.4 million in the same time period last year.
Administrative assistant Kelly Aberle (AB'-uhr-lee) says the permit record was set last year, with more than $44 million in permits for 257 projects.
Housing is in demand in western North Dakota because of the booming oil patch.
