died July 6, 2007, at Portland, Ore. after a long battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Wilma Gray was born June 14, 1942, in Jamestown, the daughter of Clarence and Vesta Gray, Buchanan, N.D. She attended school in Buchanan until she was 14. They then moved to Carrington, N.D., where she finished school. She met Ron Swaner, her first husband, in Carrington. He passed away with Polio a year later. She then moved to Seattle, Wash., where she met Leon Bennett. She moved to Portland, Ore., where she ran a foster home care until her illness.
She is survived by three sons, Schott (Ruby) Swaner, Bryn (Lori) Bennett and Thomas (Jodi) Bennett, all of Portland; three daughters, Julie (Greg) Champlin, Denise (Jeff) Breunig and Caris (David) Dukes, all of Portland; a brother, Garnit (Diane), Casper, Wyo.; three sisters, Evelyn Craven, Pateros, Wash., Charlotte (Randy) Schulz and Donna Sadek, both Jamestown; 19 grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Mike; a sister, Joyce Sheets; and a grandson.
Services held July 13, 2007, at Midway Christian Church, Portland.
