A woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday, the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported.

The accident happened at 3:54 p.m. at the junction of Highways 1 and 46. The patrol said Rose Bartle, 85, Enderlin, N.D., had been westbound on Highway 46 in a 1999 Buick Century and was turning south onto Highway 1 when the accident happened. The patrol said she pulled out in front of a 1988 Kenworth towing an oversize tractor and grain cart on a trailer driven by Danny Slominski, 46, Minto, N.D., that was northbound on Highway 1. Slominski attempted to avoid the collision but could not, the patrol said.

The force of the collision caused the engine in the Buick to separate from the car and come to rest about 50 feet away, the patrol said.

Bartle was transported to Mercy Hospital in Valley City. She was wearing a seat belt and the air bag deployed. The Buick was totaled, the patrol said.

Slominski was wearing a seat belt. Damage was estimated at $4,500 to the Kenworth.
