BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) -- A Roosevelt County commissioner says a woman was killed and her husband injured when their house near Froid collapsed as a severe storm passed through northeastern Montana.
Commissioner Jim Shanks said the woman was ejected from the couple's newly built house by strong winds on Wednesday night and tossed about 250 feet through the air before coming down in the yard.
Shanks says she was dead by the time emergency personnel responded. He says the husband is recuperating in a North Dakota hospital after suffering a broken arm and broken collar bone when a wall collapsed on him.
Sheriff Freedom Crawford said the house was not on a foundation and may have been a modular home.
Names of the victims were not immediately available.
