RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- A Nebraska woman has been given a six-month suspended jail sentence for helping her husband steal a fire truck in South Dakota.

Rowena Schade and her husband, Matthew, drew national attention last spring when they vanished with their children after being questioned on domestic abuse allegations. They turned themselves in 18 days later. A search extended to the Black Hills, where authorities said the couple stole a fire truck and broke into two cabins.

Rowena's Schade's attorney said she was under the control of her abusive husband and has since filed for divorce.

Matthew Schade has pleaded guilty to grand theft. He will be sentenced later this month.
