GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) -- Zombie-dressed residents covered in blood and scars were seen stumbling through downtown Grand Forks Saturday, but there was no cause for alarm.

The Grand Forks Herald reported that it was part of the festivities of the second annual Zombie Music Fest, which featured live bands, food and activities with a major dose of the zombie folklore in Town Square.

The North Valley Arts Council sponsored the event.

Amy Driscoll said she loves Halloween, dressing up and coming up with creative makeup for costumes. But before Saturday, she had never worn the fake scars and splattered stage makeup to turn herself into a zombie.

She said there's just something about zombies that make the reanimated creatures stand out among the ghosts, witches and werewolves also associated with the Halloween season.
