Anne Carlsen Center in Jamestown received its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccine and started vaccinating its frontline caregivers on Wednesday, Dec. 23.

Providing staff and eligible persons served with effective COVID-19 vaccines represents the most important public health strategy to control the pandemic. A multidisciplinary team at Anne Carlsen, working with State Department of Health officials, made arrangements to receive the shipment, ensure effective vaccine storage and is planning a series of vaccination clinics.

Initial supplies of the vaccine are limited and are being prioritized based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state authorities, which has recommended vaccinating frontline health care workers first.
