For North Dakota hunters who applied for once-in-a-lifetime moose and elk tags, the waiting is over. The Game and Fish Department has conducted the moose and elk lotteries.
The department received 19,126 applications for bighorn sheep, 23,023 for elk and 26,035 for moose.
The bighorn sheep lottery is scheduled in September, after summer population surveys are completed and total licenses are determined. Once the lottery is held, successful applicants will be contacted to select a hunting unit.
